Here is Sheila’s Candidate’s Statement as it appears in the Voter Guide.
My name is Sheila R. Sims and I am running for a position on the Hayward Unified School Board. I am a retired school teacher who has been a
Hayward resident for 40 years. I am a parent of two daughters and granddaughter who graduated from the
Hayward school system. I have been married to Fred Sims, who is on the ACOE board of education, for 46 years. I am a graduate of the CSUH and I received my special education credential from
San Jose State University. I believe that all children can learn and should be given the opportunity to do so in a clean, safe, healthy environment. I will be an advocate for teachers, parents, and students to promote a healthy learning environment. I will work to ensure that diversity is practiced and encouraged to promote a society that reflects respect. I will work to promote trust and respect between students , staff, and the school board members. I would like to ask everyone to please join me in re-dedicating ourselves to our students, and securing a better future for them.
Thank you for your support.
